Comedian Israel Katorza Regrets Military Boarding School Choice
Israeli comedian Israel Katorza revealed a painful personal experience from his youth during an appearance on the TV program 'Special Interview' on Keshet 12. Katorza discussed his decision to attend a military boarding school, driven by a deep desire to please his father and secure a profession. He was inspired by a television advertisement that suggested this path could lead to a career in the Air Force.
However, Katorza described the reality of the institution as harsh and demanding, requiring constant struggle for survival. He recounted enduring persistent bullying and mockery from his classmates, who allegedly called him derogatory names and made fun of his appearance. Katorza stated that the harassment was not an isolated incident but a continuous feeling of being ridiculed.
Reflecting on the experience from his perspective as a father, Katorza declared that he would not allow his own child to go through such an ordeal. He emphasized the significant gap between his initial intention, motivated by pleasing his father and acquiring a trade, and the difficult challenges he faced within the military boarding school environment.
