Police filed a prosecutor’s notice on Thursday against a 35-year-old Ramla resident suspected of a violent robbery in southern Tel Aviv. According to the suspicion, he attacked a man in his 50s, sprayed pepper gas in his face, and stole jewelry and cash worth an estimated 500,000 shekels.
The assault took place on June 5 near Tel Aviv’s Central Bus Station. After the report reached the 100 emergency line, officers from the Sharret police station arrived, met the victim, and began an investigation that included collecting evidence, taking testimony, and reviewing digital material to identify the suspect.
The suspect was arrested on June 7, and his remand was extended repeatedly by the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court. Police said the investigation combined overt and covert steps, which led investigators to build an evidentiary basis linking him to the crime.
With the investigation now complete, prosecutors are expected in the coming days to file an indictment. He is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery, causing actual bodily harm, and using tear gas.
