Attorney Eti Ben Dor has been appointed District Attorney of Tel Aviv, Taxation and Economics. Ben Dor, who currently serves as deputy district attorney, will replace Attorney Yonatan Tadmor. At the same time, Tadmor, who leads the prosecution in the Prime Minister’s cases and is conducting his cross-examination from the witness stand, has been appointed Deputy State Attorney for Economic Enforcement.

The Civil Service Commission’s tender committee today, Wednesday, unanimously selected Attorney Eti Ben Dor for the post of District Attorney of Tel Aviv, Taxation and Economics. This is one of the central positions in the economic enforcement system, which investigates and files indictments in white-collar cases, including fraud and breach of trust, bribery, large-scale tax offenses and money laundering.

At the committee meeting, it was noted that Attorney Ben Dor, 53, married and a mother of four, holds a master’s degree with honors from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in law and economics from Tel Aviv University. She currently serves as deputy district attorney and leads the enforcement portfolio for foreign bribery offenses. She began her career in the Taxation and Economics Division as an intern, and over the years was promoted to senior positions during which she dealt with public corruption cases, tax offenses and complex economic cases. Among the notable cases in which she was involved are the Holyland case, the Shikun & Binui case and the case against David Bitan and others.

The appointment was approved unanimously by the tender committee headed by retired District Court Judge Miriam Diskin, with the participation of State Attorney Amit Isman, Israel Tax Authority legal adviser Harel Israely and Chair of the Prosecutors’ Organization Orit Korin.

Attorney Ben Dor will replace Attorney Yonatan Tadmor, who was appointed Deputy State Attorney for Economic Enforcement. Tadmor is best known to the public as the senior prosecutor leading the cross-examination of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his criminal trial. He heads the prosecution in the billion-case files and conducts Netanyahu’s cross-examination from the witness stand, in hearings that are also marked by legal clashes.

In the latest hearing in Netanyahu’s trial, Prosecutor Attorney Tadmor tried to prove that Netanyahu carried out operational steps with Knesset members Yariv Levin and Ze’ev Elkin on December 12 in order to create a false impression for Noni Mozes that he was promoting the softened bill during the election period. Netanyahu lost patience and lashed out at the prosecutor with harsh words: "Your crazy and baseless thesis is working against itself."
