Israeli Wheelchair Tennis Player Guy Sasson Eliminated in US Open Semifinals
Israeli tennis player Guy Sasson has concluded his participation in the men's wheelchair quad singles tournament at the US Open. The 46-year-old Israeli, seeded third, was defeated in the semifinals by the tournament's top seed, Dutch player Niels Vink, with a score of 4-6, 1-6.
Sasson's path to the semifinals included a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Australia's Heath Davidson and a 6-2, 6-2 win against South Africa's Leon Els in the quarterfinals.
Niels Vink, the reigning US Open champion, is aiming to complete a calendar Grand Slam this season, having already won the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon. He will face his compatriot Sam Schröder in the final, who defeated Turkey's Ahmet Kaplan 6-3, 6-1 in the other semifinal.
Guy Sasson is a two-time Roland Garros singles champion. In addition to his singles performance, Sasson and Vink have reached the quad doubles final at the US Open as a team.
