Iran Declares State of War Amid Maritime and Economic Blockade

Iran's Foreign Ministry has declared that the country is in a state of war, characterizing the ongoing maritime and economic blockade against it as a "hostile act." The ministry's spokesperson stated that Iran's measures to counter the blockade are defensive and in line with international law.

Regarding diplomatic efforts, the spokesperson emphasized Tehran's understanding of diplomacy's importance but noted that negotiations cannot occur if the other party is unwilling. The official also asserted that Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed due to what he described as "aggression by the United States and the Zionist entity."
