Trump says he is likely to back Netanyahu in the upcoming election
U.S. President Donald Trump told Kan News that it is “very likely” he will support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the coming election, but said his final decision depends on who else enters the race.
“I am very likely to support Netanyahu in the election, but I need to see who is running,” Trump said. He added that he has a good relationship with Netanyahu, known as “Bibi,” but said Netanyahu “needs to be more rational.” Trump also said he is willing to meet with him.
The remarks came in an interview with Kan News and amounted to a public sign of likely backing for Netanyahu, while leaving room for Trump to reconsider once the field of candidates becomes clear.
