Yaron Zelekha Admits Past Criticism of Yoaz Hendel Was Mistake

Professor Yaron Zelekha has publicly admitted he was wrong in his previous harsh criticism of Yoaz Hendel, who is now his political partner. Just two months ago, Zelekha accused Hendel of being out of touch with the cost of living crisis, stating Hendel looked at him as if he "didn't know what the cost of living is." Zelekha also claimed at the time that a poll indicated a potential of nine seats for a joint list, but Hendel was not engaged.

Following the recent political alliance between Zelekha's Economic Party and Hendel's Reservists Party, Zelekha was questioned about the apparent contradiction. In an interview with C14, Zelekha stated, "It's very simple, I was wrong." He explained that his prior assessment was based on a mistaken belief that business magnates were behind his reluctance to partner with certain individuals, and Hendel proved him wrong.

When asked how voters could trust his current statements, Zelekha responded, "I don't have a monopoly on intelligence. And I also make mistakes." He differentiated between errors in judgment and his track record of fulfilling promises over 25 years in public life, which he claims is unblemished. Zelekha presented his willingness to retract his previous statements as proof of his transparency.

Hendel, on his part, described the new joint list, which also includes Einat Wilf, as a powerful combination. He acknowledged that Zelekha possesses greater expertise in economic matters than he does, and Wilf has more knowledge regarding international relations and policy-making. Hendel emphasized that Zelekha's economic insights are crucial for funding the list's objectives, particularly his principle of rewarding service.
