Holiday Feast in Thailand Canceled Amid Security Concerns
A holiday feast planned for Friday evening at the Chabad center in Phuket, Thailand, was canceled due to demands from local security officials. The cancellation came in response to a planned protest outside the venue.
Chabad informed invited guests, "Dear guests! Due to the demand of Israeli security officials, to our great regret, we are canceling the event. Please do not approach the area, the protesters can be violent and it is dangerous. If you know of additional travelers who planned to come, please update them further."
According to Chabad, other holiday prayers and meals from Saturday onward will proceed as usual. The report noted that Israeli security forces had raised their alert level in anticipation of potential developments during the holiday, including missile launches from Iran or attacks against Israeli or Jewish targets abroad. However, security officials had not identified any specific, immediate threat at that time.
