Israelis Favor Dubai, Greece, Cyprus Amid Shifting Travel Trends

Despite regional instability and aviation challenges, Israelis are actively traveling abroad, with booking data revealing popular destinations for the new year. According to the Airports Authority, top cities include Athens, Dubai, Larnaca, New York, Paris, and Rome. Travel company Ofir Tours notes a preference for destinations with accessible direct flights and short travel times. Greece and Cyprus remain popular choices, while Dubai continues to be a major hub for both direct vacations and connecting flights.

Several destinations have seen significant growth in popularity. Paphos experienced a 55% increase in passenger traffic, Tirana doubled its numbers, Miami saw a 27% rise, Abu Dhabi grew by 14%, and Bangkok increased by 10%. Yoni Vaksman, Deputy Chairman of Ofir Tours, stated that while Israelis seek familiar routes, they are open to new experiences if offered good prices and direct flights, emphasizing a growing demand for comfort, value, and flexibility.

Dubai has maintained its top position since the beginning of 2026, attracting visitors with its high service standards, beaches, shopping, and year-round warm weather, according to Oren Cohen Maguri, Marketing Director of Ha'Shatiach Ha'Meofeph. He added that the Israeli market has become significant for UAE tourism, and Dubai is no longer just a transit point.

Consumer behavior has also evolved, with Israelis demonstrating resilience. Unlike in the past, when news of instability would halt bookings, travelers now adapt by mitigating risks rather than canceling vacations. This has led to a sharp increase in demand for trip cancellation insurance, which has become a standard part of travel planning.
