Ex-IDF General Backs Opposition, Calls for Netanyahu Government's Ouster

Kamil Abu Rokon, a retired IDF Major General and a candidate for the "Yashar!" party, has called for the immediate replacement of the current Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Abu Rokon, who is listed in the 13th position on the "Yashar!" party slate headed by Gadi Eisenkot, stated that "the main mission now is to change this corrupt and distorted rule."

Speaking to Kan 11 and the "Pant" website, Abu Rokon asserted that "winds of change are blowing in Israel." He specifically targeted the government of Netanyahu, Bezalel Smotrich, and Itamar Ben-Gvir, advocating for a new administration that would serve all segments of Israeli society, including the Druze community.

Abu Rokon highlighted an assurance from Gadi Eisenkot that efforts would be made to address the challenges faced by the Druze public. He emphasized the critical importance of voting in the upcoming Knesset elections, describing them as "fateful" and urging increased voter turnout for the sake of the future of the Druze community and their children.

Abu Rokon brings extensive experience from nearly four decades in the security establishment, primarily in the Civil Administration and the Palestinian arena. His notable past roles include Deputy Military Governor in Jenin and Tulkarm, Commander of the Coordination and Liaison Administration for Gaza, Head of the Civil Administration in the West Bank, Head of the Land Crossings Authority in the Ministry of Defense, and Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) from 2018 to 2021.
