Police Commissioner Consults Ex-Officials Amid Public Disputes

Police Commissioner Danny Levi is currently engaged in another public dispute with National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Amidst this tension, it has been revealed that Levi has been consulting with a group of former senior police and military officials during his first year in office. These advisors include former IDF Intelligence Chief Maj. Gen. (res.) Tamir Heyman, former Commanders Shimon Lavi, Yossi Frenti, Doron Turgeman, and Yaakov Borovsky, former Deputy Commanders Ron Gartner and Miri Peled, and former Police Commissioners Dudi Cohen and Moshe Karadi.

Retired Commissioner Yaakov Borovsky has been a vocal supporter of Levi, previously calling him "the best police commissioner the police has ever had." Borovsky's strong backing has drawn criticism from some former commanders in a WhatsApp group, with one accusing him of seeking personal gain. Another notable meeting involved retired Superintendent Miri Peled, who wrote an article two months ago titled "Judgment is Impaired in the Police." Peled met with Levi a month later, officially to discuss "advancing women in the police."

Levi also sought assistance from former Commissioner Dudi Cohen for his strategic plan, but Cohen declined. Former Commissioner Moshe Karadi met with Levi twice during Levi's first year, though their relationship has reportedly seen ups and downs. These meetings were disclosed from Levi's schedules, obtained through a freedom of information request by the 'Success' organization.
