Man Charged with AI-Powered Cyberattacks, Spying on Employees
The prosecution has filed an indictment against Michael Bar, 43, from Ashkelon, for conducting extensive cyberattacks against numerous Israeli companies and private individuals, stealing business and personal information. The indictment alleges that from 2019 until his arrest three weeks ago, Bar systematically developed and deployed malicious software, enhanced by AI tools, to penetrate the computers of 26 companies and private individuals remotely.
Among the alleged offenses, Bar used computer webcams to capture intimate images of female employees at these companies, as well as their minor daughters. His lawyers, Tamir Kaldron and Rami Zuabi, emphasized that the prosecution accepted their position that no sexual offenses should be attributed to Bar, and none are included in the indictment.
