A new complaint was filed on Thursday with Israeli police against Gur Levi, the 25-year-old Tel Aviv resident already under investigation on suspicion of rape and secretly filming women in fitting rooms at TLV Mall. The latest allegation says he filmed a young woman without her consent during a sexual act, in an incident said to have happened several years ago.
Levi’s lawyer, Shir Aharonson, said the complaint concerns “an event that, according to the allegation, took place several years ago.” She added that the passage of time and the “unique circumstances” require a careful review of all the evidence before any conclusions are reached. Aharonson said, “My client denies the allegations against him,” and added, “The investigation is in its final stretch. I believe that when it is completed, the full picture will become clear.”
Police are continuing to review the complaints in the case. Levi was arrested on Wednesday in an apartment in Florentin after young women who recognized him contacted police. Following the publication of his photo and personal details, another complaint was also filed against him, this time for rape. He was taken for questioning at a police station and then remanded in custody.
During the hearing on Levi’s remand, a police representative described the allegations. On the fitting-room filming suspicions, he said investigators showed Levi evidence from two cases and that one complainant said she saw him filming her; police also said surveillance cameras from the business showed him filming a woman. On the rape complaint, police said a woman alleged Levi met her at a bar where she works, bought drinks for her and a friend, then persuaded her to come to his home, where they used drugs and drank again. She said she later became dizzy and confused, then sought medical tests at Ichilov Hospital over concerns about pregnancy or infection.
