US Marks One Year Since Assassination of Conservative Influencer Charlie Kirk
The United States is marking the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative political figure and founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk, who was 31 at the time of his death on September 10, 2025, was shot and killed by Tyler مثلا Robinson, a radical left-wing student at the University of Utah, while Kirk was giving a speech. Robinson allegedly used an old hunting rifle to shoot Kirk from the roof of an adjacent building.

Despite never holding an official political office, he became a powerful force within the Republican Party and was considered an informal advisor to Trump during his second term, with some factions seeing him as the future leader of the American right.
Robinson reportedly stated that he killed Kirk to "silence" him, motivated in part by Kirk's opposition to transgender rights, specifically referencing his own transgender partner. However, speculation persists about other motives, given Kirk's trajectory and potential future presidential ambitions, with reports suggesting he had discussed a potential joint ticket with then-President J.D. Vance.
Kirk's assassination is described as a pivotal moment in American politics, creating a deep rift between the left and right, with celebrations of his death on the far-left contrasting with widespread mourning among conservatives. Within the right-wing movement itself, his absence has led to internal power struggles as different factions vie to fill the void left by his charismatic leadership and his efforts to combat antisemitism and economic populism.
