Right-Wing Activist Urges Netanyahu to Fire Minister Katz, Citing Electoral Gain

Right-wing activist Meni Asayag has publicly urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dismiss Minister Haim Katz, claiming such a move could boost the Likud party's electoral prospects by one or two seats. Asayag's appeal, directed at Netanyahu, follows a controversy surrounding Katz's alleged desire to dismiss Yehuda Eliyahu, the head of the Israel Land Authority (RAMI), contrary to Netanyahu's stance.

Asayag criticized both Katz and MK David Bitan, suggesting they secured their Knesset seats at the expense of more capable individuals. He stated that many, including himself, expect Katz and Bitan to be sidelined from significant government roles, asserting they lack support among Likud members and voters, who view them as a burden.

Expressing distrust in Katz and Bitan, Asayag warned they could potentially align with left-wing forces, likening them to a 'Trojan horse.' He suggested that if their influence were to become decisive, it would be preferable to hold another election round. Asayag reassured Netanyahu that he has the backing of over a million voters and should proceed with firing Katz, predicting it would yield additional mandates.
