Young Entrepreneur Builds Wealth Through Early Investment and Diversified Portfolio
Yitzhak Bonen, a 28-year-old entrepreneur and finance professional from Ramat Gan, Israel, has built a significant investment portfolio, with over half of his assets currently in the S&P 500 index. Bonen, who founded Robin, a smart mortgage comparison platform, attributes his financial acumen to early exposure to money management.
Bonen began saving diligently at age 13, depositing his earnings from various jobs into a safe. His interest in investing was sparked by reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad" at 16, which taught him about generating income from others' productivity and investing in assets. During his military service, he opened an investment provident fund and began trading stocks, eventually moving his savings from his safe into the stock market.
His investment strategy has evolved over the past six years. Initially drawn to trending stocks like Nvidia and Apple, he learned to identify companies with long-term potential, often influenced by geopolitical events. For instance, he invested in oil companies during a period of geopolitical tension. Currently, his portfolio is structured with 35% in stocks, including Nvidia and oil stocks, 10% in a stock-track provident fund, and 55% in the S&P 500 index.
Bonen favors broad market indices like the S&P 500 for long-term growth, believing it offers exposure to the leading companies in the American economy. He also invests in individual stocks he believes have significant upside potential. He avoids cryptocurrencies, citing their volatility and dependence on supply and demand, and prefers Telegram over Twitter for its dynamic and anonymous communication features.
Bonen has accumulated tens of thousands of shekels in profits over six years in the market, though the current value of his portfolio does not reflect his total earnings due to ongoing transactions and withdrawals. He advises monitoring oil stocks due to geopolitical influences and paying attention to social media posts from influential figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump, which can impact markets.
