A special report by Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism says Iran operated dozens of fake social media profiles aimed at spreading falsehoods and exaggerating war damage to demoralize the public in Israel and abroad.
According to the report, the campaign began during “Rising Lion” and “With All Its Might” and has intensified since then. The main messages focused on claims of a very high death toll in Israel, distribution of images of destruction and ruin, and assertions that senior Israeli officials had been killed.
The ministry said the posts reached hundreds of thousands of followers and generated millions of views. One fake profile, “Yehudi Temani,” drew 1 million views, 2,200 shares and 6,300 comments.
Another fake account under the name “Yitzhak A. Humami” reached 4.4 million views, 6,900 shares and 6,300 comments, according to the report.
