Arab Nations Back UK Sanctions on Israeli Settlements

Following the United Kingdom's lead, several Arab nations, spearheaded by Saudi Arabia, have issued a joint statement praising and supporting the UK's decision to impose sanctions on Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt released a statement expressing their backing for the "anti-Israeli" move.

In their official communiqué, the foreign ministers stated, "We welcome the decision of the government of the United Kingdom to ban the import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory and to impose restrictions on services related to such settlements." They specifically referred to the settlements as "illegal" and located in the "occupied Palestinian territory."

The Arab nations further expressed their hope that this action would encourage broader international engagement. "We express the hope that this decision will help mobilize the international community to take similar actions in accordance with international law and to prosecute settlement organizations and individuals involved," the statement read. This coordinated response highlights a unified stance among these countries regarding the status of Israeli settlements.
