New York Knicks owner James Dolan is already warning that the team may not be able to keep its championship roster together, even after winning its first NBA title in 53 years. Dolan said the Knicks will not go above the NBA’s second apron in the 2026/27 season, even if that means sacrificing a chance to repeat. He described the second apron as a line teams must avoid and said, "We can't go into the second apron." He added, "I don't know if we can. We're willing to push the limits, but there are things in the NBA that you have to be suicidal to do. One of them is going into the second apron."
