Lali Deri Proposes 'Servant's Status' Law for Military Recruits

Lali Deri, a candidate for the "Amcha Israel" party, outlined her party's vision for military conscription, stating that those who do not serve will receive no benefits. Speaking in an interview with 103fm, Deri explained that "Amcha Israel" plans to add a "Servant's Status" law to the existing Security Service Law, based on the principle that "he who serves more, receives more."

Deri also emphasized the importance of integrating the Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) public into Israeli society, suggesting that this must occur through the state's education system, specifically the state-Haredi education framework. She argued that Israel cannot thrive without closer connection between the Haredi community and the broader Israeli society.

She further claimed that a significant right-wing public feels unrepresented by current coalition parties. Deri stated that many right-wing individuals are disillusioned with parties that have failed to address conscription, investigate past security failures, or prevent Hamas entrenchment on the Gaza border. She believes her party offers a viable alternative for these voters.

Addressing criticism from within the political camp aligned with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Deri expressed disappointment that opponents attack those trying to solve problems rather than focusing on the issues themselves. She characterized this as "old politics" she wishes to avoid. However, Deri also asserted that "Amcha Israel's" entry into politics could strengthen the right-wing bloc by providing voters with a party that fights for the public interest, thereby reducing the perceived threat to the current right-wing government.

Deri also shared that she has received immense support from her family since entering politics, stating she would not have pursued it without their approval and backing. She acknowledged the emotional toll of political life, particularly the criticism she faces, and credited her children, husband, mother, and siblings for providing the strength to persevere.
