Hapoel Tel Aviv is trying to bridge the remaining differences with winger Timoko Diawara as it builds its 2026/27 squad. The club was also drawn Wednesday night against Bulgarian side Ludogorets in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.
Diawara, who plays for French club Reims, is the leading candidate to replace Louziz Loizou after Loizou was sold to Red Star Belgrade. Hapoel and Reims have already agreed on a transfer fee of 1.5 million euros.
For about a week, the club has been negotiating with the player’s representatives over the contract terms, but there are still gaps. Diawara is trying to maximize the deal and is also considering other offers.
Inside Eliyahu Barada’s team, there is a strong desire to sign him, mainly because he already knows the league and life in Israel, which would reduce his adjustment time. Another factor is his close friend, captain Fernand M’Baye. The coaching staff has alternative options ready, but the club does not plan to move on until the current negotiations are fully exhausted.
