Umm Al-Fahm Reading Club Discusses Local Author's New Book
The Umm Al-Fahm Community Center, affiliated with the municipality's culture department, hosted its monthly reading club meeting on Monday evening. The event focused on discussing "Thoughts from This Era," a book by local author Dr. Nawaem Shibli Jbara. The gathering featured a rich dialogue among intellectuals, poets, writers, novelists, and critics from Umm Al-Fahm and surrounding Arab towns and cities.
Participants engaged in discussions about the intellectual and emotional themes presented in the book, examining its perspective on humanity and the transformations of contemporary reality. They explored the book's reflections and questions related to human life in a changing world, noting its ability to open avenues for contemplation and broader intellectual and human inquiry.
The event saw the attendance of prominent cultural and intellectual figures, including Sheikh Raed Salah, Amira Jbara, Iman Masarwa, and the author herself, Dr. Nawaem Shibli Jbara. Lubaba Sabri, director of the Culture Department, emphasized the reading club's role in enriching the cultural landscape and promoting reading and intellectual dialogue. She stated the department's vision to establish the club as a national platform for writers and critics from various regions, with a special focus on local literary talent.
Sabri added that the club aims to provide a regular space for dialogue and idea exchange, enhancing the local cultural scene and allowing the public to engage with creators and their works in an open and profound atmosphere. This initiative is part of the Community Center's broader efforts to offer diverse cultural platforms and bolster Umm Al-Fahm's standing in the Arab literary and cultural movement.
The next meeting will focus on discussing the poetry collection "More Like No One" by poet Wissam Halabi, continuing the series of literary discussions that have established the reading club as a forum for intellectual dialogue, critical reading, and the celebration of literature.
