Hapoel Tel Aviv Women's Soccer Team Returns to Top League

After a single season in the second division, Hapoel Tel Aviv's women's soccer team is set to return to the top-tier Ligat Al for the 2024-2025 season. The club, re-established in 2019, had a brief stint in the top league before being relegated. This time, with a strengthened squad and renewed ambitions, the team aims to establish a lasting presence.

The team's journey back to the top league was marked by an impressive undefeated run in the second division and a quarter-final appearance in the State Cup. Head coach Ofer Ben-Zeev emphasized that promotion was just the first step in a larger plan to build a strong club culture and professional approach.

Hapoel Tel Aviv has significantly bolstered its roster with a mix of Israeli national team players and international signings. Notable additions include Israeli national team midfielder Eden Avital, who led the second division in scoring with 38 goals, and forwards Maria Almatsri and Laisla Santos, who brings a proven scoring record from her previous time in the league. The defense is strengthened by Mexican international Rebecca Zavaleta, and the midfield by Argentinian Angela Nigito.

Coach Ben-Zeev expressed optimism about the team's preparation, highlighting a training camp in the Czech Republic that fostered team cohesion and reinforced the club's playing philosophy. He also noted the integration of young players from the youth academy into the senior team environment, providing them with valuable experience.

Professional manager Asrat Einay stressed the importance of building a sustainable club culture, characterized by high-intensity training, professional standards, and strong character.
