Britain Sanctions Israeli Settler, Citing Violence Against Palestinians

Britain has imposed personal sanctions on five Israeli citizens, including Eliab Levi, a bereaved father involved in establishing new settlements and outposts in the West Bank. According to the British Foreign Secretary, Levi is suspected of involvement in aiding, inciting, or supporting activities that constitute severe violations of human rights, specifically by threatening and perpetrating acts of aggression and violence against Palestinians.

Levi, who lost his son David in a May 2025 incident in Gaza, stated that his activism stems from witnessing the consequences of past agreements, referencing the Oslo Accords and the disengagement from Gaza. He explained his efforts to establish settlement points and farms across the West Bank, aiming to create territorial continuity and a security buffer for Israel. He founded the "Union of Farms" organization to coordinate farm establishment with the state and military, and the "Habaita" forum, which advocates for settlements in open areas of the West Bank, including Areas A and B, to effectively challenge the Oslo Accords.

Levi asserted that his farms currently occupy over a million dunams in Area C, significantly more than established settlements. He described his son David's death while clearing terror infrastructure in Gaza, noting David's dedication to the settlement cause. Levi stated that the sanctions do not deter him, drawing a parallel to sanctions imposed by the Biden administration. He emphasized that no financial price compares to the loss of his son and warned against complacency, urging parents to lead change to prevent future tragedies like October 7th in the West Bank.
