Far-Right Israeli Politician Defies European Boycott of Settlements
Twelve European countries, including the UK, France, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden, have announced a trade boycott on products originating from Israeli settlements beyond the Green Line. Despite these significant international declarations, prominent far-right politician Baruch Marzel expressed no concern.
Marzel, known for his association with the extreme right, has a history of activism, including serving as secretary of the Kach faction and chairman of the National Jewish Front. He is a founder of the Otzma Yehudit party and is particularly active in the Jewish community of Hebron, where he resides. He has often been involved in protests advocating for his nationalist ideology.
In recent years, Marzel has been critical of former allies within Otzma Yehudit and the Likud party, perceiving their stances as too moderate and deviating from true right-wing ideology. Ahead of upcoming elections, he has intensified his public activities and social media presence to promote his agenda.
In response to the European boycott announcement, Marzel posted a defiant message on social media, stating, "Hey Britain, I conquered more territory. Suck it up." He asserted that no boycott would alter the fact that the people of Israel are here to stay.
