Kia Unveils Versatile Electric PV5 Minivan for Global Markets

Kia is entering the minivan and commercial vehicle market with its new electric PV5 model, aiming for a highly competitive price point, even against Chinese manufacturers. The PV5 is designed for maximum versatility, with Kia developing a dedicated production line to convert the base model into various specialized versions. These include passenger variants, a cargo version, a camper with a raised roof, and even specialized vehicles like food trucks or ice cream vans.

The PV5 is built on Kia's electric E-GMP platform and will be available in multiple configurations. Four versions are slated for release in Israel by the end of 2026: two passenger versions accommodating five or seven people, a cargo van for transport, and a vehicle adapted for wheelchair users. Kia plans to introduce longer wheelbase models, the PV7 and PV9, in 2027.

This launch marks Kia's significant push into the electric vehicle segment beyond its existing Niro, EV6, EV3, and upcoming EV5 and EV2 models. The company emphasizes the PV5's adaptability, referring to it as the 'ultimate people carrier' and highlighting its potential to meet diverse market needs.
