Doctor Treating Wounded IDF Soldiers Shared Anti-Israel Content

Dr. Reem Afra, a physician responsible for treating wounded IDF soldiers within the Ministry of Defense's Rehabilitation Department, has been revealed to have shared anti-Israel content on social media. This includes a 2015 post featuring a picture of the ruins of the Shuja'iyya neighborhood alongside the Palestinian national anthem. Soldiers treated by Dr. Afra have reported disturbing experiences, including an alleged refusal to stand during a siren commemorating fallen soldiers, with one soldier reportedly having to physically stop her. The report raises serious questions about the vetting process for medical personnel treating injured combatants, especially as her appointment for a three-year term until the end of 2028 was personally approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Sources indicated that the mere presence and use of Arabic during treatment could be psychologically triggering for soldiers returning from combat, highlighting the need for extreme sensitivity and consideration for their mental state. The Rehabilitation Department stated that no complaints regarding Dr. Afra's professional conduct or treatment have been received, and that the allegations concerning her 2015 posts will be investigated. The offices of Defense Minister Israel Katz and the Ministry of Health declined to comment on the matter.
