US Does Not Oppose UK Sanctions on Israeli Settlements, Axios Reports

The United States administration did not object to the United Kingdom's imposition of sanctions against Israeli settlements, according to Axios, citing U.S. officials and Western diplomats. President Donald Trump reportedly spoke with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham prior to the announcement to inform him of the situation. The report indicates that Trump did not express disagreement with the initiative or attempt to prevent its implementation.

U.S. officials, in discussions with their British counterparts, conveyed shared concerns regarding the policies of the Netanyahu government in the West Bank, even if they did not endorse the specific sanctions. This development follows an announcement by eleven other Western nations intending to introduce restrictions or support measures against trade with goods produced in Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria.

The countries that signed the document include Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Some of these nations plan to enact such restrictions domestically, while others have expressed willingness to support pan-European measures or are considering similar actions.
