Kadma Fund in Advanced Talks to Acquire Stake in Health Food Chain
Investment fund Kadma is in advanced negotiations to acquire a 50% stake in the Israeli health food chain "Shumshum Bar Briut," owned by founder Tomer Elon. The deal, which involves tens of millions of shekels, aims to fund the chain's business development and expansion.
Kadma will inject significant capital directly into the company, with additional payments to Elon including options and future performance-based compensation. The investment, led by partner Nir Tzarfati, is intended to support Shumshum's plan to grow from its current 24 branches in the Gush Dan area to 30 locations by the end of 2026. The chain also operates a production facility in Holon.
This move aligns with a broader trend in Israel's food and catering sector over the past two years, where investment funds and institutional bodies have made substantial acquisitions in prominent chains such as Japunica, Mimi-Nunu, Biscotti, and Kiso.
For Kadma, managed by Gilad Halevy, Gilad Shabtai, and Uri Einan, this potential investment represents a significant expansion of its portfolio, which already includes well-known companies like Keter Plastic, Carmel Winery, and See Data. The fund's interest in Shumshum underscores its confidence in the growth potential of Israel's ready-to-eat and health food market.
