A man and a woman in their 60s were shot Thursday in Kafr Qasim, in what police suspect was a blood-feud attack tied to an ongoing family dispute. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene and evacuated the woman to hospital in critical condition.
According to the article, armed assailants opened fire on the pair. Emergency responders found the man lifeless and could only confirm his death, while the woman, who suffered penetrating injuries, received first aid at the scene before being taken away in serious condition.
Police from the Tayibe station and the Sharon district arrived, sealed off the area and began collecting evidence with forensic investigators. Officers are also searching for the suspects. A preliminary investigation points to revenge violence as part of a continuing feud between families.
The shooting in Kafr Qasim came amid a deadly wave of violence in the Arab community. On Wednesday night, a man in his 40s was shot dead in Ar'ara in the Negev, near educational institutions, in another case linked to a known criminal family conflict. After that killing, local education officials closed four nearby kindergartens this morning, leaving about 140 children at home over fears of gunfire and retaliation. That incident took place less than three weeks after another shooting in the town, in which four people were wounded, one of them seriously, and six suspects were arrested.
