A man in his 60s was shot dead and a woman in her 50s was critically wounded Thursday morning in Kfar Qasim in the Sharon region, amid what police suspect is a blood feud tied to an ongoing dispute. Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was evacuated in critical condition for treatment at a hospital.
The Central District police opened an investigation into the shooting. In a statement, police said Sharon area officers, the Tayibe station and forensic investigators were working at the scene to collect evidence and search for the suspects. The preliminary assessment, police said, points to revenge linked to a long-running conflict.
MDA paramedic Ahmed Abu-Shah said crews arrived to find two gunshot victims. “A 62-year-old man had no signs of life and we were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene,” he said. “Nearby was a woman about 50 who also had gunshot wounds. We provided medical treatment and evacuated her to the hospital in serious and unstable condition.”
The shooting came after several other violent incidents. On Wednesday night, a man about 55 was seriously wounded in a shooting in Kfar Qasim and taken to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba. Hours earlier, a man about 20 was seriously wounded near Moshav Livnim in the Upper Galilee and taken to Poria Hospital along with another person who was lightly hurt. On Saturday, two people were killed in separate criminal incidents: Emad Aghbaria, 51, from Musheirifa in Ma'ale Iron, died after being critically wounded by a bomb attached to his car near the Wadi Ara area, and Majed Sabih, 25, was shot dead overnight in Kafr Kanna in the Lower Galilee.
