Arab MK Slams Dismissal of Ultra-Orthodox Knesset Member
Knesset Member Ahmad Tibi on Tuesday described the dismissal of his close friend, Moshe Gafni, as "unfair, ugly, and inhumane." The statement was reported by Yaakov Hershkowitz of the "Hayom" newspaper.
Last week, Lithuanian Torah leader Rabbi Dov Lando announced through his spokesperson that Gafni and another representative, Makleb, were being removed from their positions. The announcement, made via a WhatsApp group, stated that while their contributions were appreciated, their roles were ending abruptly due to a need to refresh the ranks.
This dismissal has caused shock within the ultra-Orthodox community, as both Gafni and Makleb are considered highly effective and prominent figures. Many also expressed displeasure with the manner in which the decision was communicated and executed.
