Lapid Slams UK Sanctions Threat as 'Grave Mistake' Driven by Politics

Opposition leader Yair Lapid has strongly criticized a decision by the United Kingdom to impose sanctions on Israel, calling it a "grave mistake" and a "wrong and dangerous policy." He argued that the timing and reasons behind the decision are flawed.

Lapid asserted that the UK's move would embolden extremist voices in Israel just before the Knesset elections and would serve as encouragement to Hamas and other terror organizations. He stated that it is clear the decision is motivated by internal British politics, where a cynical attack on Israel is used to appease disappointed voters.

He emphasized that such actions are detrimental to the fight against terrorism and do not serve the security interests of either Israel or the UK. Lapid called on the British government to reconsider its policy and engage in dialogue with Israel to address security concerns.
