Izencott Party Official Addresses Defection Fears, Seeks Religious Zionist Support

Matan Kahana, ranked fifth on Gadi Eisenkot's party list, has responded to concerns about potential defections, drawing a parallel to the departure of Idit Silman from the previous government. Kahana stated that his new party, "Yashar!" (Straight!), aims to be the home for the Religious Zionist community, asserting they will bring the most representatives from that sector into the next Knesset. He highlighted the diverse experience within Eisenkot's list, including former ministers and Knesset members, while also incorporating new faces with significant backgrounds.

Kahana addressed potential coalition partners, suggesting that members of the current government, upon realizing Benjamin Netanyahu's inability to form a government, might join them to "rescue Israel." He also commented on Yair Golan, stating that coalition building requires engaging with individuals who don't necessarily share identical viewpoints.

Earlier, Kahana reflected on his own political career, noting his success as a minister in implementing reforms and challenging monopolies. He acknowledged a paradox in the current political climate where the public desires both novelty and experienced individuals. Kahana believes his party has assembled a strong team with broad experience across various fields, positioning them to lead Israel out of its current difficulties.
