Global Crypto Wealth Report Reveals 135,000 Millionaires, 23 Billionaires

The story · English

A new report by Henley & Partners estimates that 135,694 individuals worldwide hold at least $1 million in cryptocurrency assets, with 92,272 of them holding at least $1 million specifically in Bitcoin. The global crypto market was valued at approximately $2.6 trillion as of late August, with Bitcoin accounting for about $1.6 trillion. This comes after a year of significant price drops, with Bitcoin still trading around 38% below its all-time high of approximately $126,000 reached in October 2025. Despite price volatility, the adoption of digital assets remains widespread, with an estimated 742 million people globally holding some form of cryptocurrency, including 371 million holding Bitcoin.

The report identifies 290 individuals with over $100 million in crypto, 151 of whom hold this amount solely in Bitcoin. At the very top, 23 individuals are classified as crypto billionaires, nine of whom hold at least $1 billion in Bitcoin. The report notes that while Bitcoin's price has fallen from its October 2025 peak, the current decline is less severe than previous post-peak drops, which saw losses exceeding 75%. The currency recently experienced a sharp recovery, partly due to falling U.S. bond yields and U.S. government efforts to advance crypto legislation.

Henley & Partners also released a ranking of 36 countries based on their friendliness to digital asset holders, considering regulation, taxation, infrastructure, innovation, and crypto adoption. Singapore topped the list for the fourth consecutive year, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, the U.S., and Switzerland. Other countries in the top ten include Malta, Thailand, the UK, Cyprus, and the Bahamas.

The report also highlights increasing global crypto regulation, including the EU's MiCA regulation and similar initiatives in other countries. Israel is also advancing new regulations and oversight rules to govern the industry and facilitate its integration into the financial system. However, Henley & Partners cautioned that a change in methodology for estimating crypto wealth holders means the current data is not directly comparable to previous years' reports.
