Airport Workers Union Head Disputes Strike Claims, Blames Management

Pinchas Idan, chairman of the Airports and Border Crossings Authority Workers' Union, has refuted claims that airport workers went on strike, stating instead that employees requested to end extended shifts due to a severe staffing shortage. Idan asserted that the responsibility for the disruption at Ben Gurion Airport lies with the management.

In an interview, Idan detailed the critical lack of hundreds of employees, leading to shifts lasting 12 hours. He highlighted the ongoing struggle for better working conditions for the staff. Idan also addressed criticism he received from within the Likud party, his subsequent removal from the party, and his continued loyalty despite these challenges.

The union leader's statements come in response to the events that significantly disrupted operations at the airport, with Idan emphasizing that the workers did not abandon their posts but rather sought to conclude their demanding shifts.
