Israel Strikes Hamas Commander in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Monday that they eliminated Youssef Aqila, identified as a company commander in Hamas's elite Nukhba force, in a strike near Gaza City on Sunday. The IDF stated that Aqila posed an "immediate threat" and had been involved in planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians in recent weeks. According to the military, he was also working to restore Hamas's operational capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire.
The IDF reported that precise munitions and aerial surveillance were used to minimize civilian risk before the strike. Southern Command forces remain deployed in the Gaza Strip and will continue to act against any threats, the military statement concluded.
