Rebuilt Bnei Brak School Damaged by Iranian Missile Reopens
The "Otzar Hachaim" Beit Yaakov school in Bnei Brak, which was damaged by an Iranian missile during a recent conflict, has been rebuilt and reopened for the 2026-2027 school year. A mezuzah-hanging ceremony and dedication marked the occasion.
The ceremony was attended by prominent city rabbis, including Rabbi M. Ben Shimon and Rabbi Ch. Y. Landau, along with Mayor Rabbi Chanoch Zeibert, Deputy Mayor Rabbi Menachem Shapira, and education officials. The school's rebuilt premises now provide a fitting and dignified environment for the students.
"It is moving and joyous to see the students returning here and opening the year in a worthy and respectable building," stated Deputy Mayor and Education Commissioner Rabbi Shlomo Elharar. He emphasized the special significance of reopening the school after the difficult period the institution, its staff, and students endured due to the missile strike.
City rabbis affixed the mezuzahs and offered blessings for the new school year. Mayor Zeibert praised the efforts involved in the reconstruction and reopening, specifically commending Rabbi Elharar for his dedication to the school's restoration and future. He also thanked Rabbi Shmuel Dedon, head of an education department, for ensuring the city's schools opened on time.
Rabbi Elharar also expressed gratitude to the city rabbis, the mayor, and MK Rabbi Aryeh Deri of the Shas party for their support in galvanizing efforts. He reiterated the joy of seeing the students back in a renewed and organized facility, wishing everyone a successful, peaceful, and blessed academic year.
