Maki Golan Claims Ben Gvir Offered Her a Non-Realistic Spot on Otzma Yehudit List
Minister Miki Golan has claimed that National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir offered her a position on the Otzma Yehudit party list for the 26th Knesset, but that the offer was for a non-realistic spot, which she refused. Ben Gvir's office had previously reported that he decided not to include her on the list.
Golan's office stated that contrary to reports and "false briefings," no negotiations took place between the parties. Ben Gvir reportedly approached Golan on his own initiative and offered her a place on the list, which she declined. Golan reiterated her high regard for Ben Gvir but affirmed her commitment to the Likud party's path.
Her office further alleged that "false briefings" were issued against her before the Likud primaries with the intention of harming her candidacy. Golan stated her commitment to the approximately 19,000 Likud members who voted for her, despite alleged "deals and elimination lists" used against her. She vowed to continue advocating for the national camp and working towards a "true right-wing government."
In a separate statement, Golan announced her intention to take a break from public life after 15 continuous years of public service, including seven years in the Knesset and her current role as a minister. She expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the national camp and concluded with a message of optimism, stating, "Remember, everything, but everything is for the best! Am Yisrael Chai."
