Alon Shamriz's Brother Declines Knesset Run
Yonatan Shamriz, whose brother Alon was abducted by Hamas on October 7 and later mistakenly killed by IDF forces, announced he will not run for the Knesset in the upcoming elections. Shamriz, who leads the "Qomo" movement and is involved in organizing the national memorial ceremony for October 7 victims' families, stated, "I will not run for the Knesset, on any list, neither existing nor independent. I make this decision with a heavy but whole heart."
He explained that while he had decided to enter politics in recent months, he realized the time was not right. Shamriz revealed he received numerous offers but felt there was no suitable platform he could fully commit to. He had previously considered a political career, particularly after the events of October 7, but has now decided to postpone his entry into the political arena.
