Ten Illegal Migrants and Two Suspected Smugglers Arrested in Beit Shemesh
Israeli police arrested ten undocumented workers and two individuals suspected of transporting them in a targeted operation in Beit Shemesh. The operation, conducted by Jerusalem Border Police officers and detectives, was part of increased enforcement efforts ahead of the High Holidays to prevent illegal entries.
During the operation, forces set up a roadblock and stopped a suspicious vehicle. Inside, they found eight undocumented individuals. The driver was also found to be in Israel illegally and is suspected of transporting them. Shortly after, a taxi approached the checkpoint. One passenger exited and fled on foot but was apprehended after a short chase. He too was an undocumented migrant. The taxi driver was detained for questioning on suspicion of transporting him.
In total, ten undocumented individuals and two suspected transporters were arrested. One of the suspected transporters was also among the undocumented individuals. Both vehicles used for transport were seized. All suspects were transferred to the Mateh Yehuda station of the Jerusalem Border Police for further investigation.
The Border Police stated that operations against undocumented workers, as well as those who transport, shelter, or employ them, will continue as part of efforts to maintain public safety.
