Rabbi Ovadia Yosef's Daughter Publicly Backs Shas Party Against Sisters

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef's daughter, Rabbi Sara Toledo, has publicly contradicted her sisters' recent criticism of the Shas party, expressing strong support for the movement and its leadership. Her sisters had previously stated in an interview with Channel 12 that Shas was not operating according to their father's principles.

Speaking to Kol Barama radio, Rabbi Toledo declared her intention to protest the silencing of her voice, stating, "I do not think like my sisters. I think the opposite of them." She asserted that Shas is an integral part of her father's legacy, founded by him to promote Torah study, ritual baths, synagogues, and religious education, all of which she believes Shas continues today.

Rabbi Toledo also voiced support for her brother, Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, who is a leader within Shas, stating he is continuing their father's path. She emphasized that a strong Shas would enhance Torah in Israel.

She further clarified her father's priorities, noting that for him, Torah was paramount, not politics, and that Shas also represents Torah, not politics. Rabbi Toledo concluded by endorsing Shas chairman Aryeh Deri, affirming that he follows Rabbi Yosef's path of Torah and reverence for heaven, with Torah being his sole concern.
