Maccabi Haifa Manager Cohen May Bench Captain Shu'a Amidst Team Struggles

Following two consecutive losses and a slide to last place in the league after conceding seven goals, Maccabi Haifa manager Almog Cohen is reportedly considering a significant lineup change for the upcoming match against Bnei Sakhnin. Captain Yarden Shu'a is expected to be benched due to criticism of his season's performance, particularly after his substitution in the previous game against Hapoel Tel Aviv, where he cited back pain. Sean Weissman, who has appeared sluggish since joining the team, is the likely replacement for Shu'a in the forward position, though he is also expected to start on the bench.

Further adjustments to the lineup include Kalou starting over Eugene Ansah, and Tomer Yosefi likely replacing Ziv Ben Shimon. Adi Yona, who has not featured prominently for months and faced transfer rumors, may also be integrated back into the squad. The club has not received any offers for Yona and he was not considered for transfer, with the current focus on re-establishing him as a key player.

The team faces additional defensive challenges, with Luka Gdranic suspended and Nena Antwi and Yarden Cohen still unfit to play. Liel Darai is expected to fill Gdranic's spot, while Ro'i Elemlech is slated to start on one wing. The other wing position is a toss-up between Timothy Mozzi and Nevo Shudo.
