Maccabi Tel Aviv Registers Kanikovskiy, Aims to Add Tavernier Before Match
Maccabi Tel Aviv will officially register midfielder Gabi Kanikovskiy with the Football Association on Monday morning, allowing him to start in the team's lineup against Hapoel Be'er Sheva at Turner Stadium later that evening. Kanikovskiy, who returned from Hungary less than a week ago and has been training with the club for several days, will replace Idan Shachar in the starting eleven. The club is also working to register James Tavernier before the match, following the departure of Kervin Andrade.
Andrade, a midfielder from Venezuela, has been released by Maccabi Tel Aviv and is expected to join Greek club Volos on loan. He was informed during training on Sunday to gather his belongings and leave the facility, with players observing his immediate departure. His release clears a roster spot, enabling the club to attempt to register Tavernier before the afternoon deadline.
If Tavernier's registration is not completed by the deadline, he will be registered for the team's next match, the Tel Aviv derby in the following round.
