US Ambassador: Israel Must Ensure Palestinian Safety in West Bank
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckaby stated that the Israeli government has a responsibility to ensure the safety of Palestinians in Judea and Samaria, citing a recent increase in attacks attributed to Israeli settlers. Huckaby emphasized that residents of Palestinian communities have the right to live in security, and Israeli authorities must take necessary measures to protect them.
"One of the messages that we have been sending and will continue to send is that people in these communities have a right to live in security, and that the government has an obligation to provide that," Huckaby told reporters during a meeting with Americans of Palestinian descent in Judea and Samaria. He reiterated that ensuring residents' safety is the government's duty.
Huckaby's remarks followed reports of a rise in attacks blamed on Israeli settlers. He indicated that Washington will continue to communicate the U.S. stance on this issue to the Israeli government.
