Businesswoman and content creator Bar Zomer said a social media post she came across brought back memories of a difficult period with her second daughter, Rani. On Tuesday night, she said the post, written by another mother facing a similar situation, moved her to tears because it reminded her how important maternal instinct can be. Zomer said that if another woman is going through the same thing now, she should know she is not “crazy” or alone.
Zomer previously disclosed that when Rani was three weeks old, doctors found she was sensitive to cow’s milk protein, a condition that caused prolonged suffering for the baby and the household. She shared messages from that time with her husband, Aviv, including the line, “I physically cannot be with her anymore.” She said that for months she felt day after day that she could no longer cope, was “broken,” and could not bear the crying any longer.
Looking back at those conversations was still painful, she said. Zomer described the situation after childbirth as one in which she knew “something was not right” as soon as she left the hospital. She said she could see that Rani was in severe pain and hear her screaming so intensely that she sometimes feared the baby would lose her voice.
The struggle led Zomer to switch to exclusive breastfeeding, but she said she still kept wondering what she had eaten whenever Rani cried. “I feel like a terrible mother because I cannot ease your pain,” she wrote at the time. Even then, she said she hoped to read her own post a week or two later and find the ordeal behind her.
