News 13 in Israel was embarrassed after a woman hired by the company was exposed as an impostor, according to a report published by ynet. The person who helped uncover the case was former Big Brother contestant Avraham Akloom, who said he alerted the network after growing suspicious of her claims.
Akloom said the woman contacted him, claimed to work at News 13 and offered to help him obtain information that would benefit him. He said their conversations led him to visit her workplace unexpectedly to verify her story. “She really walked around there and showed me documents proving she worked there. She knew the employees and everything,” Akloom said. “There was no doubt she worked there.”
He later became less certain. “Then I made inquiries about her and understood something did not add up,” he said. He informed News 13 about his suspicions, and, according to him, the employee he spoke with alerted the CEO, who was stunned by the story. Akloom said the woman had been able to contact other people at the network while in a role that could have exposed her to sensitive information.
According to sources at News 13, she worked there for about a week before the matter came to light, and her employment ended a few days later. The network confirmed the account, saying it had fallen victim to a fake employee who was uncovered quickly and fired before causing damage.
