IDF to Demolish Lebanon Tunnels, Begin Gradual Withdrawal

The Israeli military is preparing to enter the next phase of its operation in southern Lebanon, which includes demolishing underground tunnel networks discovered beneath the strategic Ali Tahar ridge. Military officials stated that no militants remain alive in the area. Following the completion of the tunnel destruction, the IDF is expected to commence a gradual withdrawal from territory currently under Israeli control.

The planned withdrawal involves forces pulling back from the "Blue Line," the internationally recognized border, and establishing a new defensive line approximately two to four kilometers into Israeli territory, referred to as the "Gray Line." Around 20 new permanent outposts are slated to be constructed along this "Gray Line."

Operational control in the evacuated areas will be maintained through intelligence, observation capabilities, and Air Force aircraft, which will be tasked with countering any armed groups identified in the region. The plan is scheduled for review by the commander of the Northern Command this week before being submitted for approval by the political echelon.

These developments follow a tense night in southern Lebanon, during which two explosive drones were launched towards IDF forces operating near the Ali Tahar ridge. While no casualties were reported, the Israeli Air Force responded by striking several targets in southern Lebanon. One strike hit a structure in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, which had previously served as a hospital but was evacuated about six weeks prior. Israel claims the structure was being used by Hezbollah for military activities and has presented evidence of this to the United States.
