National Security Minister Ben-Gvir Praises Volunteer Defense Teams

Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir attended a large-scale emergency drill involving approximately 70 members of a volunteer "readiness unit" in the town of Meitar, alongside police officers from the Rotem region. Ben-Gvir stated that the exercise demonstrated the system's proactive approach, preventing incidents from escalating.

He highlighted a shift in public perception regarding these units, noting that while they were previously derided as "Ben-Gvir's militias," current reality proves their value. The minister asserted that over a thousand such units, established under his direction, are crucial for saving lives, enhancing residents' personal security, and acting as a significant force multiplier during both routine times and emergencies.

Ben-Gvir concluded by commending the security apparatus in the field, expressing deep appreciation to Commander Shai Shlomo of the Rotem region, the police officers, and the volunteer unit members for their dedication to the security of the Negev residents.
