Moshe Gafni Surprised on Live Radio Following Dramatic Political Ouster

Radio host Menachem Toker surprised Knesset Member Moshe Gafni with a live phone call on Sunday, a day after Gafni was dramatically removed from the Degel HaTorah party's list. Toker called Gafni during his broadcast, catching the veteran politician off guard.

"This is Menachem Toker live on air," Toker told Gafni, quickly asking, "Just to hear that you are okay, Rabbi Gafni. We love you." Gafni, sounding surprised, responded briefly, "I am fine, thank God. Everything is fine." When asked about his mood following the "dramatic decision," Gafni declined to elaborate, stating, "We will talk about it."

Toker attempted to elicit a comment on Gafni's future public career, asking if he expected to continue in his role. Gafni again remained ambiguous, saying, "God will help. We will talk more." Even when pressed for a "small scoop" and a yes or no answer, Gafni replied, "No, no, it's okay. We will talk." The call concluded with Gafni reiterating, "Thank God," before bidding the host farewell.

Following the call, Motke Bluy, who was in the studio, commented on Toker's success in reaching Gafni, asking how he got his number. Toker responded with a smile, "We know people, and we know this," to which Bluy jokingly replied, "You're a mobster."
